GEIS Board of Trustees update
Kia Ora Glen Eden Intermediate School Whānau,
As the Presiding Member of the Board, it brings me pleasure to extend a warm welcome to all our new Year 7 students, an incredible 484 of you! We are now in week five at GEIS, and I hope you are settling in, making new friends, and embracing the exciting experiences that come with intermediate school.
Remember, this is a time to explore and try new things, so have a go!
To our returning Year 8 students, I trust you are stepping up as fantastic role models for our newcomers. This year is your opportunity to break out of your comfort zone, try something new, and give back to our wonderful school community.
I’d also like to extend a welcome to our new principal, Jonathan Hughes, and the new staff/Kaiako who have joined us this year. It’s been a pleasure walking through our school and seeing the vibrant community spirit and the exciting opportunities ahead.
For those who may not know me, I am in my sixth year on the Board of Trustees, and GEIS has been a significant part of my life. This school has been my second home since I was in Form One, and I cherish the connection my family has with it. My father served as the principal for 27 years, and both my children attended here before moving on to college.
What I love most about GEIS is the people. The commitment to equality, the exceptional students, and the passionate support from our Kaiako all contribute to a remarkable educational experience. It’s inspiring to see students thrive, becoming independent and confident while enjoying their time at school. I believe our Kaiako foster a collaborative and supportive environment, working together to set goals and making GEIS a truly special place. I look forward to engaging with many of you throughout the year.
Wishing all our students and whanau a fantastic Term One at GEIS-let's make it a memorable one!!!
Ngā mihi nui,
Megan Syddall
