MAORI HUI & PASIFIKA FONO

Vaimoana Vaai —

Nau Mai, Haere Mai to all our Maori and Pasifika families of GEIS

This year, to kick start our connection with our Maori & Pasifika students, we took 140 children to PolyFest and we have some videos and photos to share at our Fono/Hui.   It was an eye opener to so many of us and it was privilege for us to also take our students as well as our visiting Thai Students.

Our next step is to now CONNECT with our Maori & Pasifika Families.

*We are trying something a little bit different this year.

*We will be running workshops with the students from 3.30pm-6.30pm.  Parents are invited to join us at 6.30pm to view what the students have been doing, ask questions, meet the teachers and then at 7.00pm we have a wonderful guest speaker, Nick Tuitasi.

Who is Nick Tuitasi??  Nick Tuitasi is the kind of person that legends are made of. Larger than life in stature Nick is also larger than life in passion and commitment.

In 1998 Nick Tuitasi received the Queen Service Medal, for his contribution to the community. In 2000, he was voted one of the top 100 New Zealanders of the century. In 2007, he was presented the 'Living Legend Award.
To watch Nick speak to 3,000 young people is both inspirational and exciting.
A sought after speaker, Nick has an ability to educate, entertain and inspire people into action.

We welcome all our Maori and Pasifika families and GEIS staff to join us on Wednesday 3rd April, 6.30pm-8.30pm.

  • Come along and view what the students have been working on in their workshops
  • Come along and listen to Nick Tuitasi
  • Come along and connect with our community of families and teachers beyond our classrooms
