Titirangi township’s warmth was palpable! The sun shone, people smiled and cockerels crowed.
Room 20 students and four lovely adults walked from school to the township with delight to be out of the classroom for the day. At Te Uru, the students participated in an art workshop after viewing up close Fred Graham’s iconic artworks. They were crafted with skill and we were inspired to create our piece of art. These individual triangular panels were combined to become a set of squares representing elements of Matariki concepts.
After enjoying a picnic lunch in the sunshine outside the library, students enjoyed browsing through a wonderful selection of books. After spending time there, we thanked the librarian and she exclaimed with a twinkle in her eye, “You are the quietest students I have never had!” We all laughed together. The good vibes were palpable. Everyone was appreciative of a great day out.
