This term, our class is diving into the complex world of human anatomy in science. Anatomy involves studying the human body. During our first science lesson in the lab, we had a hands-on experience dissecting a sheep’s heart, lungs and trachea. We focused on examining the heart and even got to touch it. The texture was unique—soft yet firm, similar to jelly that had been left out for a while. To everyone's surprise, our science teacher, Mr. Towl, demonstrated a fascinating experiment by inserting a tube into the trachea and inflating the lungs like a balloon. It was a memorable experience for all who participated.

This term, we have been privileged to use science kits, which include replicas of the complex organs in the human body and face. We also got a lung kit. If you don’t know how lungs work, the simple definition is that they function like balloons that inflate and deflate as you breathe in and out. Among the many kits, my favourite was the hand science kit. I got to cut out a replica of my hand from cardboard. After cutting it out, we cut straws to stick onto the cardboard with openings for the lines on our fingers. Then, we threaded string through the straws and glued the ends. Finally, by pulling the string, the fingers moved, making it an interesting and entertaining lesson.
