Underpinning all that we do at GEIS are our school values.  These are:

Whakaute - Respect
- Care for people and their belongings.
- Use manners.
- Be aware of others’ personal boundaries.
- Accept other people’s beliefs and cultures.
- Look after the environment.

Mana Tangata - Integrity
- Do the right thing.
- Stand up for what is right.
- Own your actions and accept the consequences.
- Be honest

Hiranga - Excellence
- Work to the best of your ability.
- Put time and effort into whatever you do.
- Attitude and actions do matter.

Manawaroa - Resilience
- Be brave when facing challenges.
- Keep trying when things get tough.
- Use mistakes as a learning opportunity.

Our values shape the development of positive behaviour in the classroom, playground, and while in the community.  Kaiako/Teachers give out 'values cards' to ākonga/students who are showing the values in their learning, at play, and in their interactions with peers and teachers.  They are a highly sought after commodity!

Ākonga/Students can then 'spend' these values cards at the values shop.  This shop is open on Tuesday and Thursday lunch time for 20 minutes and has a variety of items that students can 'buy'.  For example - a tennis ball is 10 values cards, fun erasers are 20, Pencil cases or notebooks are 50, fidgets are 100, hot wheels 150, portable speakers are 200.
