Board of Trustees Update

Kia Ora GEIS Whānau,

As I reflect on 2024 at GEIS, I am grateful for the successful year we’ve had as a school. Our staff and students have achieved many milestones, and everyone should be proud of their efforts. Whether in the classroom, on the sports field, or in the performing arts, I see our core values—Respect / Whakaute, Integrity / Mana Tangata, Excellence / Hiranga, and Resilience / Manawaroa—shining through in our GEIS students. This is what makes GEIS a wonderful place for children to learn.

I want to commend our Year 7 students for embracing our school culture as they transition into their roles as key members of our school community as Year 8s in 2025. I am incredibly proud of our Year 8 students, who have had a monumental year filled with academic, social, sporting, and artistic achievements. I wish them all the best as they embark on their next learning journey into Year 9 and beyond.

To our dedicated staff, thank you for your hard work in 2024. I know that teaching is not always easy, and we deeply appreciate your commitment to teaching. Our students and community are fortunate to have you.

A special thank you to Jacob Prisk, our acting principal. You wear many hats each day at GEIS, and we’re impressed by how you’ve embraced this role. Your leadership has ensured that the daily operations of the school run smoothly, always prioritising our students and staff. We are immensely grateful for your efforts during this transitional period, which have inspired confidence and hope among students, parents, and staff alike. Your vision for the future of GEIS continues to motivate our community as we work together towards common goals.

As we approach the holiday season, I wish all GEIS families and our community a safe and happy break. I encourage everyone to take time to recharge and refresh for 2025. I look forward to seeing you all next year.

 Aroha,
