Olympian Visits GEIS!

On Thursday 19th September, Olympic athlete and ambassador, Max Brown, visited our school and spoke to Karekare mini school.
With anticipation and excitement, we listened attentively to our Olympian's stories; his life in the Olympic village, his journey into music - creating the New Zealand team song ('Aint Just Dreaming' with Ellesse Andrews), and having Tom Cruise land next to him during the 2024 closing ceremony.
Max does not see himself as being naturally talented at canoeing, instead, he insists it was hard work and a passion for the water that led him to success and a place at the 2024 Olympic Games. Each week Max paddles over 120km, approximately the distance between Auckland and Hamilton.
We hope to see Max competing at the LA Olympics in 2028!
