Kia ora koutou katoa

This year has been another great year at GEIS as I reflect back on all the opportunities we give our tamariki each year, in the arts, academics, sports and many more. The opportunities and success that come to mind are our school production Shrek Jnr, the results of our AIMS games teams, our Koutuitui Kapa Haka festival, Cultural evening, X Factor, Cushion concert and many more. I also enjoyed celebrating our tamariki's achievements and accomplishments with their families and whānau at our Year 7 and 8 prizegivings.

Next year at GEIS we have designed our curriculum with a real focus on teaching students about our school values, kindness, and expected behaviours at school and in the community. Through our curriculum and classroom programmes this will teach our tamariki these aspects and characteristics so they can continue to contribute to society in a positive way. Please see the article about our 2024 curriculum in this newsletter.

I wish our Year 8 students all the best at their high schools next year and I look forward to hearing of their successes.

I also look forward to our Year 7's returning next year and being our new leaders and role models through Tuakana-Teina for our new Year 7 students.

I also want to thank our hard working staff who work throughout the school in their different roles. A special BIG thank you to our classroom teachers, as  teaching is a complex job and our teachers do a magnificent job educating and looking after the wellbeing of our tamariki.

This year we say goodbye to some teachers for various reasons and we would like to  thank them for their time, energy and hard work with teaching our tamariki.

I am a firm believer that good schools have "good curriculum and good people" and we have that here at GEIS.

He aha te mea nui o te ao ?

He Tangata He Tangata He Tangata

What is the most important thing in the world ?

It is people, It is people, It is people

Have great and safe summer break everyone.

Ngā mihi
