Moneytime is a website which supports financial literacy in schools, and they recently held an inter-class competition throughout the entirety of Aotearoa’s schools.
Our class, Bravo, had never heard of the competition, yet we had been using the Moneytime platform for financial literacy for several months. Before we found out it was a competition we were trying to acquire the highest net wealth out of everyone in our classroom. Once we discovered the competition—in which we were coming second at the moment— we knew we had to work even harder to receive the top prize.
Madame encouraged us to complete our Moneytime modules. We found out we were coming first when we were nearing the end of the competition. Everyone cheered yet it was short-lived because we knew the competition wasn’t over. With one week left, we were on the edge of our seats because the competition was almost coming to a close, we were excited for the end and couldn’t wait for the end result. We were all jubilant for whatever result came our way because we all knew we tried our hardest.
When our school received the news that our class had won the competition, everyone in our class was over the moon. All the students were overjoyed, and Madame was proud of us. We had not only won the competition, nonetheless, we had also proven that we were responsible and knowledgeable about financial management and literacy.
Glen Eden is going to help kids with financial literacy more because they will reap the rewards later on in life. This win was not just a victory for us, however, it was a testament to us trying our best on Moneytime and our financial literacy skills. It helped us to develop important financial management skills that we will carry with us throughout our lives. Overall, Moneytime is a highly beneficial program that enforces quality financial skills, and I believe that the tamariki of Aotearoa should participate in it.
