Who to contact if you need assistance.
We know things do not always go smoothly at school and we always encourage students to approach their teacher for help in the first instance.
From time to time you may need to reach out for support. It is important for parents to know the routine if they need support with anything academic, social, emotional or with attendance. Your first port of call is your classroom teacher if you need to discuss or have any concerns regarding your child. Please feel free to include the Mini School leader when you message, as the classroom teacher will always include them if needed.
If you still require assistance, please reach out to our Deputy Principals, Mr Prisk, Mrs Peach and Ms Hancock.
Attendance
Glen Eden Intermediate prides itself on having high attendance rates. Key to our approach is making our school a great place to be for all members of our community. If students want to be at school, they will be the drivers to get their parents or themselves motivated to get them there. Don't forget to report any absences. Given the size of our school, all absences will be followed up. You can report an absence through our website, School App or by calling the office and leaving a message. Always report absences to the office and not directly to the classroom teacher. If you drop your child off late or they arrive late, they must sign in before going to class, to avoid unnecessary calls to parents.
Thank you - Safety at the school gate – before and after school
Parents and whānau have been very respectful of being safe around the school gate. Please be mindful and respectful of our school patrollers and staff on duty at these busy times. Please do not drive in the front school gate between 3.00pm-3.15pm as this is a busy time with our students exiting the school.
School Uniform and Adolescent Hygiene
The school uniform is seen by the school and community as the major form of identity and belonging to Glen Eden Intermediate. Thank you for a getting your child off to school in the correct uniform. As adolescents experience bodily changes, we encourage the use of deodorant and regular washing of PE uniforms for everyone's comfort. Students need to come to school and go home in full school uniform, not PE gear.
All visitors must report to the office
If you are picking up your child early or dropping something off we require all visitors to report directly to the office and not to approach the class. Classes are spaces of learning and as a busy intermediate, classes are often out at spec or other learning activities. The office is the best place to help you.
