Steve Zonnevylle —

Kia ora! Yay! We’re back to Level 1 again … what a relief. Here’s hoping that we’ll be staying here for the rest of the year. As a result of Level 1 we were able to open up our Yr 7-8 Learning Team Celebration assembly yesterday to all parents. It was a great showcase of the work that our senior students have done throughout the term, and it was fabulous being able to host our wider whanau.

On Friday we’ll be able to have a full school assembly again. For the last few weeks we’ve been running our weekly assemblies on FaceBook Live, but nothing beats a hall full of amazing children singing all together!

Phew, the term is almost all complete. Term Three will go down in history as a bit of a stop start affair due to COVID. It’s often been challenging, and sometimes frustrating, but I think all in all we can be proud of how we’ve all supported each other and made the most of a difficult time. The holidays now beckon loudly – please make sure that you take this time to relax, refresh, and reset. We all look forward to seeing everyone back together again on Monday 12th October all prepared and ready for an amazing term 4 J

Our cover stars this week, are students working with Renee Phimister. They are using coloured coconut to make brilliant designs. This is part of our ESOL programme. Don’t they look amazing!

We have a number of Parents parking on the Yellow Lines outside the school gate at the top of Heath Street. These lines are here to protect your children. Please do not park on them even to drop children off.

Friday is the last day of Footpath Frenzy. This week we’ll be walking from the corner of Pages Road and Hunter Hills Drive from 8:30am. Last week we had about 50 students, which was a wonderful turnout. I wonder how many we’ll get this week J

Well done to Flynn Turnbull and Sophie Best who both won South Canterbury Cycling awards recently. Flynn won the Boys U 13 Championship and the Cyclery Under 17 Points series. Sophie won the Girls U 13 Championship. Caleb Turner received the bronze medal in the Under 13 championship. Flynn and Sophie are competing next week in the Tour of Southland.

Well done to Emily Best who placed 3rd overall in Step 3 Unders and the Affinity Gymnastics Competition. She did this by achieving a 1st place on the floor and a 3rd place on the vault.

Congratulations to Carla and Fabian who both were the recipients of our Gleniti Archer in Action awards last week. Top work!

Congratulations also to all the students who received Principal Awards at our assembly last week.

Ngā mihi Regards Steve Zonnevylle
