Gleniti Newsletter 19th May, 2021

Steve Zonnevylle - May 19, 2021

Today I was lucky to tag along with our Yr 8 leaders to catch up with Mayor of Timaru, Nigel Bowen. Our young leaders were keen to hear from Mayor Bowen his thoughts about what makes a great leader. A massive thanks to Nigel Bowen for giving our young leaders this opportunity to see and hear about civic leadership in action.

Our Year 5-6 Rippa rugby team are also in action today. We have two teams competing in this annual competition that we always do really well in. Our cover stars this week are our two teams just before departure!

Tomorrow we will be advertising for up to 12 out of zone places, with ballot preference in Yr 0-3. This will be advertised in the Courier. Applications can then be requested from the office from Friday 21st May, and the process will close on Friday the 28th May.

Next week we will be officially launching our Active Travel School Plan. Keep an eye out for a special brochure next week that will help outline the plan.

As part of the plan the TDC and WAVE have designed a map showing key safe places for you to drop off your children – we’ve published this in today’s newsletter.

Next week as part of the launch we’d like to encourage parents on TUESDAY to drop off their children at the corner of Mountainview and Wai-iti Road at 8:30am to walk to school with our WAVE team and some of our teachers.

Congratulations to all those students who competed in the Pleasant Point 10s Tournament for their rugby clubs over the weekend.

Six of our boys played in the winning under 9 and under 12 teams.

Congratulations to Alex and Amelia for being our Archer in Action winners last week. Well done also to all of our Principal Award recipients.

Regards
