Welcome back everyone!
Welcome back everyone! I’m sure that you’ve all had a wonderful summer break and are all set for the busy term ahead. It was great to welcome all the smiley faces back on Monday. 2021 is certainly shaping up to be an exciting year. A huge welcome to all of our new children and their families. Welcome back to Alex Hand who will be teaching our Yr 7-8s again in Rm 13, and Alex McLean, Inge Dirkzwager and Hayley Toumohuni who are back in relieving roles.
Last week we met with the Ministry of Education and we are finally able to move ahead with our Five Year property plan. This will mean that we can move ahead with the refurbishment of Rooms 3 and 4. We’ll also be replacing all of the corrugated perspex on top of the verandas outside Rooms 5-8 and Rooms 11-14. The Ministry have also allowed for extra money to be spent upgrading cladding on the ends of classrooms and ….. drum roll required! …. removal of the boiler room at the front of the school. We haven’t used the boiler for over five years and the building is a real eyesore. Removal of this will make our school look much better and much more inviting!
Next week we look forward to our annual meet and greet Family Picnic. This will be held on Wednesday evening (10th February) from 5:30pm on the main field. It’s a bring along your own dinner sort of event, with lots of fun and games thrown in. The perfect way to meet the Gleniti School whanau!
Once again we are on the lookout for people to help out with the supervision of our Kea Crossing on Spring Road. We finally got to the stage last year where we had a parent on every morning! Things change, families move on, and we’re looking for people on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. If you can help us out, we’d be really pleased! Send me a message stevez@gleniti.school.nz if you can do any of these mornings.
Finally, I just have a couple of things to remind people.
First of all a message about uniforms. It’s a great time of year to remind everyone of our uniform expectations.
Uniforms should be just that; uniform. So please when you are purchasing new black shorts please avoid
anything that might have a logo on it. The Warehouse have plenty of plain black shorts, and they’re a good
price.
Don’t forget your sunhats as well everyone. It’s very important that all children wear their sunhats at school.
Don’t forget we have Waitangi Day holiday on Monday, 8th February. The school will re-open again on Tuesday.
