Gleniti School Newsletter 10th March 2021

Steve Zonnevylle - March 14, 2021

It’s great to be back in Level 1 again – long may it continue! Thank you for all your patience and understanding during Level 2, as always we’ll be reviewing our processes and making tweaks and changes as we see necessary, so please be aware that if we ever head back into Level 2 then our steps may be slightly different. This week is a huge week school camp wise! We have our Yr 7-8 team all heading away to Aoraki Mt Cook. I’m extra lucky because I get to go and hang out with the students from Rm 15 from Wednesday through to Friday up at Mt Cook! It’s going to be amazing! Our Yr 5-6 team are also busy doing school camp like activities. Our Yr 5’s are in the middle of their Kids in Action week, and our Yr 6’s are on camp to Raincliff. This year they’re mixing up the activities by heading to Geraldine for the day. No doubt everyone will have a great time in their varied learning experiences!

Yesterday I got to help out with our PCT challenge team. They were competing in the Yr 7-8 PCT Police Challenge. They all performed admirably setting the 5th best time of the day. Well done Parker, Fraser, Rhiannon, and Emma.

Last Friday on the Gleniti Assembly Live @ 11:05 show I got to interview Angus and Neave about their epic semi final match up against Pleasant Point in the local Touch Rugby competition. We ended up winning 4-3 and this week we’re off to the finals against Sacred Heart. If you want to support the team then the game is on Thursday afternoon at 4.35pm at School Park. I’ll be hollering my support from Mt Cook!

On Sunday we had a spate a vandalism at school. Somebody was able to get into the senior toilets, cake the place in mud and toilet paper, break a louvre window and leave the taps running. Not a great thing to find when we started school on Monday. If anyone knows anything about this, then please contact the school.

We’re getting an increasing number of students arriving with devices that they can contact their parents with during school time and class time. Some are watches and some are phones or tablets. Please if it’s an emergency and you need to get hold of your child during school times then work through the office. Otherwise please keep your communications till after school. Thanks.

We’re still on the lookout for parent helps for our upcoming swimming sports on Wednesday 24th March from 12:30pm. We can’t run this event without your help, so please if you can help either contact the school office 686 0082 or fill in this form … https://forms.gle/qam9gusnu6mEXtng7

Congratulations to our Principal Award recipients from last week. Great work team!
