PARKING RESTRICTIONS & BOAT RAMP CLOSURES – NAVAL POINT

The SailGP Race Stadium will be staged at Naval Point, starting from Monday 12 February. The build for the SailGP Race Stadium is ongoing and will have increasing impact to the users of Naval Point. Please see the key impacts and dates below:

  • Naval Point parking restrictions: very limited between 4 – 30 March
  • Freedom Camping area closed: 4 March – 29 March
  • Naval Point Public Boat ramp closed: 7 March – 30 March
  • Windsurf ramps closed: 7 March – 30 March

The boat ramps are closed for a longer period this year to accommodate double the number of spectators, safety considerations based on learnings from last year’s event setup. SailGP and Council staff have made efforts to reduce these closures considering the event layout and scheduling to reduce the impact. However due to the lack of parking available once the temporary structures begin construction, a decision has been made to close the ramps.

There will be road closures and restrictions in place along Godley Quay and other roads around Naval Point, as required, for the construction phase. This will manage traffic entering the area safely and restricted only when needed. Access will be maintained and managed for those who need it, working with local stakeholders and managing parking requirements.
