The Creative Writing Workshop

Maria Papageorgiou —

Highly imaginative, creative and fun! Our Creative Workshop provided a safe collaborative space for students to explore their writing voice, experiment with new genres and challenge themselves to think and write ‘out of the box.’

Our aspiring authors have become capable and confident writers who engaged with the writing processes of drafting, revising, editing and publishing their original work for our school newsletter. Our workshop members engaged with a wide range of texts and explored the interplay between the writer, the language and the text. Innovative writers have to be adventurous readers whereby our students are also voracious readers.

Our students motivated and supported each other, learning to accept critique in order to enhance their writing skills and fuel personal growth. Ultimately, our writers inspired each other where every writer was welcomed and recognised.

The Creative Writing Workshop has become a writing family - happily munching on Tim Tams and celebrating each other’s diverse writing styles and choice of genres.

Last Creative Writing Workshop

I wholeheartedly wish our talented graduating Year 10 students to pursue writing for both personal and professional development. I thank you for your four-year support and for helping to build and mentor this wonderful writing community. Thank you, Jayden, Ben, Jerry, Evan, Tyrel, Zane, Tahi and Landon.

The torch is now passed on to some highly spirited and imaginative students. Thank you, Eli, Aatish, Tahmeed and Jerry.

Keep on writing!
