From the Music Faculty 🎼

Mr Nathan Wilmshurst —

Hurstville Boys welcomes new rock band!

This term the music faculty has seen many changes. The small ensemble continues to rehearse, guitar and drum studies are well underway in Year 7 and 8, and the Year 9 elective class continue to hone their skills on the instruments of their choice.

This term:

  • Year 7 students have spent time learning and playing on drums and using body percussion.
  • Year 8 students have been learning the strings of the guitar and playing together in small groups.
  • Year 9 Elective Music students continue to master their instruments of choice and delve into 19th century music.

The Small Ensemble continues to rehearse during recess or lunch. We are excited to welcome two new members to the small ensemble and hope that they enjoy their time as much as we enjoy their contributions to the band. It is never too late to join the band or start to learn an instrument, if you are interested please see Mr. Wilmshurst for more details.

We are ecstatic to announce the formation of a rock band with some of the students from the Year 9 elective class. The boys have been working hard with extra rehearsals and it is shaping up to be a phenomenal first performance for them. Stay tuned for more developments and performance dates.

We also look forward to an upcoming cross-campus workshop taking place early next term for elective students and Small Ensemble band members. More details to come in the near future.

Finally, a reminder to all parents about the Creative Kids vouchers, the NSW Government based assistance program. Parents and carers can apply for a voucher with a value up to $100 per calendar year for each student aged 4.5 to 18 years old enrolled at school. These vouchers can be used to support your son's creative development.
