Mr Foote —

The highlight of the term has been the Year 10 sculptural work.

All year groups have been working very well in class and have received their Assessment Task #1. The boys have studied the work of famous sculptors like Henry Moore, Jean Aro and Barbara Hepworth. The emphasis of Moores work was trying to combine elements found in nature, like mountains, hills, caves and valleys with the human form. He was particularly interested in the negative space of a sculpture which he created with holes.

Our students first studied the work and lives of these sculptors and then designed their own work. Once they had created their own unique design, they began to carve their work in soapstone, a stone in the jade family.
