Excursions, Assessments and Exciting Class work

Term 3 consistently proves to be a dynamic and thrilling period within the VA Faculty. All year groups are currently engrossed in finalizing their assessments for the year, dedicating themselves to their classroom endeavors.

Notably, the term has been marked by two exceptional highlights. First, the Year 10 Visual Arts students have been passionately pursuing their creative projects, showcasing their dedication and talent. Additionally, our memorable excursion to The Art Gallery of NSW added an enriching dimension to our term, allowing students to immerse themselves in the world of art and culture.

Earlier in the year The Art Gallery of NSW opened a new building, named the North Building. It contains the art gallery’s Aboriginal art collection and many modern and installation artworks. On the 17th August Year 10 students and select students from Year 8 visited the new building. The building, the view and the artworks are outstanding and all of the students enjoyed the experience immensely. We finished the excursion by having a beautiful walk through The Botanical Gardens and then lunch at Circular Quay. The students demonstrated our school qualities of respect, responsibility and excellence and were perfect school role models. It was a pleasure to share such an excellent experience with our fantastic students.

Year 10 are finishing their final weeks of studying this subject by completing a practical project of their own choosing. Firstly the students had to complete a written task to describe the type of work they would compete, and an artist who has influenced them and their work. It’s great to see the enthusiasm the boys are showing completing work of their own choosing. The students are creating works in a range of media including sculpture, photography, drawing, painting and mixed media.
