Shane Baker —

So, we come once again to the end of the year. All students should be proud of their accomplishments in Science throughout 2023.

Year 8 students undertook their Year 8 Valid science examination. This statewide examination allowed students to display the science skills and understanding that they have gained over their first 2 years of high school. Their results will be able to show how they are progressing in their science understanding compared to all 2023 Year 8 students in NSW. Keep an eye out for the results which will be emailed out to you early 2024.

Our Agricultural Technology students have also had a bumper crop this year. This year's class has been able to grow a wide range of produce ranging from a vast selection of herbs, spinach, carrots, tomatoes and corn, just to name a few. I’m sure that the families of these students enjoyed the meals that these crops were added to.

As we move into 2024, the science faculty look forward to working with students to develop their understanding of science so that they can build a deeper understanding of how the world around them works. As renowned biologist Thomas Henry Huxley once said, “Science is simply common sense at its best, that is, rigidly accurate in observation, and merciless to fallacy in logic.”

From all of us in the Science faculty we hope all have a good and relaxing break and we look forward to seeing you all next year for another successful year of learning in 2024.
