Support Unit update

Natalie Amacha —

Students in the Support Unit have focused on their academic, social, communication, and independent travel goals throughout the year.

This term we bid farewell to our eight Year 10 students who will be embarking on a new and exciting journey to Oatley Senior Campus in 2024. To Alex, Cooper, Dean, Hassan, Josh, Nicholas, Sean and Sheng, we will miss you and we are proud of the considerate and mature young adults you have become. These students completed their transition to Oatley in Week 8 by attending a BBQ with their families and other students from GRC Peakhurst Campus.

We welcomed Blake, Isaac, Pericles, Mason, William and Zac – our incoming Year 7 students for 2024 to three Orientation days this term. The students participated in many activities to get to know our students, staff and one another.

SR2 Community Access update

By Tristan T – SR2

On November 17, SR2 went to Manly for the first time to practise using multiple methods of public transport.

We started our day by walking to Allawah station. We caught the train to Townhall then we changed trains to Circular Quay. We were able to find the correct platform by checking the display on the ceiling. At Circular Quay we caught the ferry to Manly. We used Google maps to plan our trip at school before we left. It took 1hr 30min to get there. The best part of the day was sitting outside on the ferry and buying fish and chips on the beach!

Next year, we would like to go to new places that we haven't been to.
