This term in the Music Faculty; Year 7 started their piano studies and have started looking at creating original music using Google’s Chrome Music Lab, Year 8 near the end for their Guitar studies and have begun to craft their own raps. Year 9 have been studying Jazz music and its origins.
This term:
Year 7 students have been practicing their keyboard pieces for their practical assessment. Working on short pieces like ‘Mary Had a Little Lamb’ and ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’.
Year 8 students continue working through their Guitar practical, the 6 strings of the acoustic guitar.
Year 9 Elective Music students take a look at the History of Jazz music and its origins having studied ‘Take Five’ by Dave Brubeck and ‘The Entertainer’ by Scott Joplin.
The Small Ensemble has been working hard this term preparing their debut piece. We hope to have them perform this term or early Term 4 as they have consistently been practising after school on a Wednesday afternoon. Once again, we’d like to remind parents and students that it is never too late to join the band or start to learn an instrument, if you are interested, please see Mr. Wilmshurst for more details of how you can join one of the bands in 2024 or 2025.
A new rock band has emerged from a small group of Year 7 students. The rock band have been practising before school and during a couple of breaks throughout their school week.
Finally, a reminder to all parents about the Creative Kids vouchers, the NSW Government based assistance program. Parents and carers can apply for a voucher twice yearly for each student aged 4.5 to 18 years old enrolled at school. These vouchers can be used to support your child’s creative development.
