Darren Elms —

Throughout Term 3, students across all year levels have engaged in a variety of theory and practical activities.

The following focus areas of study have been undertaken:

  • Year 7: In theory lessons, the focus has been on building healthy relationships through communication, negotiation, and compromise. In practical sessions, students have honed their skills in the 'Flips and Tricks' gymnastics unit, finishing with formal assessments.

  • Year 8: Students have examined community health issues, with a focus on risk and harm minimisation. They used the 'Decision Making Model' to analyse real-world risky scenarios. Practical lessons have included games like T-Ball and Kickball, helping to refine their striking and fielding skills on the school oval.

  • Year 9: This group has enjoyed the Target Games unit, improving their golf swings and participating in modified activities, including the popular ‘Pink Panther’ game. In theory classes, the focus has been on the development of identity, supporting students as they grow into respectful and responsible young men.

  • Year 10: Driver education has been a key theme in theory lessons, with students attending the Bstreetsmart excursion to Homebush, where they took part in presentations and activities promoting road safety. Practical sessions have centred on net/court and invasion games such as volleyball and ultimate frisbee.

As the term wraps up, all students are completing assessments for their respective units, with Year 10 students preparing for their yearly exams in Term 4. The PDHPE faculty looks forward to assessing students’ efforts, rewarding progress, and recognising achievement.
