Principals Report
Welcome to 2025 at GRC Hurstville Campus!
I am delighted to welcome our students, staff, and families to what promises to be an exciting year at GRC Hurstville Campus. A particularly warm welcome to our new students, including our incoming Year 7s and those joining us across other year levels. This year marks a historic moment as we transition to a coeducational setting, welcoming female students for the first time. Their presence enriches our school community, and we are excited to see them thrive.
At GRC Hurstville Campus, we foster a vibrant learning environment where students are encouraged to embrace challenges, build strong relationships, and take ownership of their education. With new opportunities come responsibilities, and I encourage every student to make the most of their time at school—engaging in learning, participating in activities, and striving for personal excellence
Our Strategic Priorities for 2025
Our School Improvement Plan (SIP) continues to drive excellence in student learning, teaching quality, and leadership development. Aligned with the School Excellence Framework, our focus areas this year continue to include:
Excellence in Literacy and Numeracy – Strengthening our Every Word Counts and Every Number Counts initiatives to enhance reading and numeracy outcomes for all students. Through targeted strategies, we ensure that every student experiences measurable growth, equipping them with essential skills for lifelong learning and success.
Attendance, Engagement, and Wellbeing – A whole-school approach to improving student attendance and sense of belonging through proactive support systems. By fostering strong connections within the school community, we aim to continue to create an environment where students are engaged, valued, and motivated to succeed.
Personalised Pathways and Student Programs – We are committed to ensuring every student has access to programs that support their unique strengths, talents, and aspirations. This includes:
High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) – Extending opportunities for academically gifted, creative, and high-performing students to thrive through enrichment and acceleration programs.
Sporting Excellence – Supporting student-athletes to balance academic success with their sporting commitments through flexible learning pathways and structured support.
Future-Focused Pathways – Strengthening career education, mentoring, and vocational and academic pathways to ensure every student is well-prepared for life beyond school. Through tailored transition programs, work experience opportunities, and partnerships with tertiary institutions and industry, we equip students with the skills and confidence to pursue university, TAFE, apprenticeships, or workforce pathways.
Through these priorities, GRC Hurstville Campus remains dedicated to equity, excellence, and opportunity, ensuring that every student flourishes and achieves their personal best.

Outstanding Academic Growth – A Top Performing School in NSW! One of the highest-performing schools in the state
We are incredibly proud to share that GRC Hurstville Campus is one of the highest-performing schools in the state for Value-Added (VA) growth.
What does this mean? Our school makes a significant impact on student learning above and beyond the expected progress between Year 7 and Year 9, as measured by NAPLAN results in reading and numeracy.
Our VA results place us among the best in NSW, demonstrating that students at our school experience substantial learning growth compared to similar students across the state. This achievement is a testament to our high-quality teaching, targeted interventions, and unwavering commitment to every student’s success.
Research shows that students at high VA schools, like ours, achieve learning gains equivalent to an extra seven months of schooling compared to students at lower VA schools. This is an extraordinary achievement that speaks to the strength of our teaching and learning programs.
We will continue to build on this success in 2025 through our Every Word Counts and Every Number Counts initiatives, ensuring that every student reaches their full potential in literacy and numeracy.
A Strong Start for Year 7
Our Year 7 students have started their high school journey with great enthusiasm. As part of the Georges River Integrated Transition (GRIT) program, they participated in engaging activities to build friendships and confidence. A highlight was the excursion to Cataract Scout Park, where students tackled Challenge Valley, High Ropes, and Initiative Games—a fantastic way to develop teamwork and resilience. A big thank you to Jason R and Nahwand for their efforts in organising this valuable experience.

Celebrating Our School Community
Meet the Teacher BBQ – Tuesday, March 4
We had a fantastic turnout at our Year 7 Meet the Parent BBQ, where families had the opportunity to connect with teachers and gain insight into their child’s high school journey.
The evening was filled with positive conversations, and it was heartening to hear wonderful feedback from parents about how smoothly their children have transitioned into high school.
A big thank you to everyone who attended and to our staff for creating such a welcoming and supportive environment. We look forward to continuing this strong partnership throughout the year.
Open Night – A Fantastic Success!
On Tuesday, March 5, we welcomed an overwhelming number of families to our Open Night, showcasing the dynamic learning environment at GRC Hurstville Campus. It was inspiring to see so many families eager to learn about the incredible opportunities we offer, especially as we transition to a fully coeducational model in 2026.
International Women’s Day – A Historic Moment
This year, we celebrated International Women’s Day with a special assembly hosted by our first-ever female students. Their leadership represents a milestone in our school’s journey toward inclusion and progress.
Our Year 7 girls also created a collaborative floral art piece, where each student designed a unique flower, symbolising their individuality and significance in our school’s history. This beautiful project reflects the themes of growth, resilience, and belonging.
Harmony Week-"Everyone Belongs."
For Harmony Week, our Year 7 Visual Art and Year 10 HSIE students came together to create a beautiful artwork inspired by this year’s theme, "Everyone Belongs."
Each student contributed their unique skills and perspectives, demonstrating how collaboration across year groups and subjects can promote harmony and unity. thank you to Ms Rasic and her classes for this collaboration.
This spirit of togetherness was further celebrated in a school assembly, where students shared powerful messages about inclusivity and belonging. Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected community!
Looking Ahead
We have many exciting events and initiatives planned for this year, and I look forward to sharing more stories of student success through our social media platforms and future newsletters.
Thank you for your ongoing support in making GRC Hurstville Campus a place where every student can flourish.
