Year 9 Students Design and Build Sustainable Multipurpose Tables

Dimitri Polyzoidis —

Year 9 Industrial Technology Timber students have taken on a challenging and rewarding project, designing and constructing versatile multipurpose tables for their homes. This initiative not only showcases their skills but also reflects their commitment to sustainability.

By utilizing Radiata Pine, a renewable timber sourced from plantations, students contribute to the preservation of our natural forests and habitats. The design process was a collaborative journey, with students actively involved in every step. From initial hand sketches to sophisticated computer-aided designs, they witnessed firsthand how ideas transform into tangible products.

The transition from individual creativity to efficient mass production methods allowed them to optimize their time and achieve exceptional quality. The result is a stunning piece of furniture that will undoubtedly enhance the homes of these talented young designers. As they proudly display their creations, they can take satisfaction in knowing that they have not only mastered woodworking techniques but also made a positive impact on the environment
