Check-in Assessments
During Term 3, all Year 7, 8 and 9 students in NSW will complete the online Check-in assessments for reading and numeracy.
The online assessments are designed to:
provide an overview of student learning across a year level
identify student misconceptions
support planning and programming
complement other in-school assessments and teacher observations.
Each online assessment takes approximately 50 minutes to complete and aligns with outcomes from the NSW English and Mathematics syllabuses and progressions from the National Literacy and Numeracy Learning Progressions.
The focus areas of the reading assessment cover comprehension, vocabulary and processes.
The focus areas of the numeracy assessment cover number and algebra, measurement and geometry and statistics and probability.
The online assessments will require students to bring their laptop and headphones that can be plugged into a computer on the day of their assessment. The school will have limited additional resources in the event of device malfunction.
The online assessments are scheduled for August 12 and 13. More information will be provided closer to the date.
