Attendance Round Up

Attendance at school underpins student achievement in all areas.

Positive patterns of school attendance are linked to increased academic outcomes, improved mental health and better life outcomes. Research shows that negative outcomes start once attendance rates drop below 90%. At GRC Hurstville Campus we place a strong emphasis on improving our overall attendance rate, helping students get their attendance above 90%, and celebrating students with good attendance patterns.

This year, our overall attendance rate was 85.3%, above the rate for similar schools. 46.3% of students attended more that 90%, also above similar schools. We initiated student attendance reports to better inform parents, carers and students of their overall attendance rate, and their attendance rates in different subjects. We supported all students to identify individualised goals to improve their rate of attendance. Students with a 100% attendance rate were recognised at our Recognition of School Excellence (RoSE) ceremonies.

Attendance will continue to be an emphasis moving forward, and we hope to celebrate more achievements in this area.

Orientation Day

We are excited to welcome the Year 7 class of 2025 to GRC Hurstville Campus.

On Tuesday 3 December we welcomed some very nervous and excited year 6 students (and some nervous and excited parent/carers) on site for the first time. Students got a tour, met their new peers, enjoyed the year 7 playground area and engaged in some group work engineering challenges. We all of our incoming students enjoy their last weeks of primary school, rest well over the summer break, and return enthused on Thursday 6 February. We can’t wait for you to start with us.

Year 10 Transition and good luck

Congratulations to the Year 10 class of 2024 who have now completed their studies at GRC Hurstville Campus.

The young men who we send on to GRC Oatley Senior Campus and other educational and vocational opportunities have grown so much since they arrived four years ago in stature, maturity and as learners. We have supported their transitions throughout the year, with HELP lessons focused on their next steps in life, work experience, and opportunities to visit GRC Oatley, choose their subjects and to get to know their peers across the college. After successfully completing half yearly and yearly assessments, you go well prepared for years 11 and 12.

Good luck with your future endeavours!
