Deputy Principal Teaching and Learning

Term 4 2024

Executive Conference

During Week 7, our school executive team engaged in evaluating the implementation of our 2024 School Improvement Plan (SIP). Staff reflected on this year’s successes and collaboratively refined our strategies for ongoing school improvement. We also analysed our progress towards achieving improvement measures and planned our next steps to continue driving positive outcomes in 2025.

NAPLAN & Check-in Results

This term, we received our Year 7 and 9 NAPLAN results, which were once again outstanding. Our value-add data places our school among the highest in the state, significantly exceeding the NSW average.

Similarly, Check-in assessment data highlights excellent achievements, with our Year 9 students outperforming both the State and Statistically Similar School Groups (SSSG) averages in numeracy. These results reflect the collective dedication and effort of our students and staff.

Parent & Carer Engagement

Parent and carer involvement is integral to student success, and we value our partnership with families. To support meaningful conversations at home and during meetings with teachers, we recommend the following questions inspired by Lyn Sharratt’s Clarity:

Five Questions for Parents/Carers to Ask Children

  1. What did you learn today?

  2. How did you go?

  3. What did you do if you didn’t understand?

  4. How can you improve on your learning?

  5. What are you most proud of?

Five Questions for Parents/Carers to Ask Teachers

  1. What is my child learning?

  2. How is he or she going?

  3. How do you know (how he or she is going)?

  4. How can he or she improve?

  5. What supports can I provide/can you provide if he or she is struggling? When will we check in again?

We hope these questions will foster open and productive conversations about learning, helping to strengthen the home-school connection.

Academic Reports

Year 7-10 academic reports will be distributed to parents and carers this week. Teachers are always available to discuss your child’s progress in greater depth, should you require further clarification or support.

End of Year Wishes

We wish all our students, staff, and families a safe and relaxing holiday season. Thank you for your ongoing support throughout 2024. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2025 for another successful year.
