Qwest (Quest in the West= Qwest) is a year 9 course that incorporates student choice and inquiry based learning. After learning about the Key Competencies all year 9 students have had the chance to pick their first qwest!

We have Mythbusting, Passion Projects, Sci-fi Fantasy and Te Kura classes running at the moment. In each of these quests students have an aspect of choice, especially in passion projects! In Passion projects the teacher is more a guide then leader and the students are in the driving seat of their learning. Importantly though some students have identified they need more structure and teacher direction to help them succeed in their learning. They have more direction from the teacher but will hopefully build up the skills and tools by the end of their year to give Passion Projects a go.

We will be asking students to share their Qwest each week in the newsletter so look out for it!
