Australian Junior Squash Open

Sport Dept. —

Great experience for our Squash Players

Sasha Ellery, Grace Rhodes and Casey Ellery where away in Melbourne on the 22nd - 24th April competing in the Australian Junior Squash Open! This event is registered with the World Squash Federation (WSF) on the world junior circuit so can have some of the best players attending which is open to Australian and international players.

All three of these squash players have been around the sport for a wee while now competing locally, representing the Greymouth Club at various events across the country and have been producing some great results.

At the Australian Open Sasha and Grace competed in the U17 Girls category and Casey in the U15 Girls category. All players did a great job at this event with some tight games on the scorecard.

Sasha finished in 14th place, Grace 16th place and Casey 10th place in a very competitive competition that saw big numbers of entries across all the age groups.

I am sure Sasha and Grace had a good wee laugh that they went all the way over to Australia just to play each other at the tail end of the tournament! These two are often playing against each other due to having a similar squash ranking - however I bet it was another great battle between these two!

Congratulations to all three players on their performances across the ditch!
