The second Chess Regional competition for the year was held on the 3rd of August. This time the competition was a smaller occasion for Greymouth High due to the high numbers of people studying and sick. We entered two teams, with both performing well. The competition was a fantastic success with one Greymouth High School team beating all others in the senior division. 

Congratulations to Molly Meek, Hamish Gunn, Ethan Parsons and Aaron Coutts for coming first as a team. Congratulations to Richard Meek, Jack Perrin-Smith-Kahl and Kaleb Poulton for also performing well.

The chess tournament was also a great success for some individual Greymouth High students with Molly coming first overall and Hamish not only coming second overall, but making the largest improvement in his national rating.
