On the last week of the holidays, five Greymouth High School students, Rata Rushby, Iris Reynolds, Arielle Perchig, Brighid Gallagher and Cam Dickey went to a selection camp for St John National Youth Competitions in April next year. During the weekend, the applicants were tested on a variety of skills such as marching, first aid and communications/presentation skills. Fifty applicants from all over the South Island and all five Greymouth High School students were selected to compete at the national competition of which 24 from the South Island, 24 from the Central Region and 24 the from Northern Region will compete in the annual nationwide competition.
