"Race to Rugby World Cup".

David McTaggart, HoD Phys Ed/Health. —

On Monday 19 September, GHS welcomed Ron Rutland and Adam Nun as part of their "Race to Rugby World Cup".

Ron & Adam set off from Tokyo roughly 170 days ago on their way to Paris for that kickoff of the 2023 Rugby World Cup…on bicycles. They are carrying the whistles for both men’s and women’s RWCs opening games. Their New Zealand leg of the trip started in Invercargill on 12 September and finishes 8 October where they will be riding into Eden Park for the opening games of the upcoming Women’s Rugby World Cup.

On the way they are spreading their passion for rugby and raising funds for the ‘Child Fund Rugby’. They spoke to Year 9 and 10 students about resiliance, positive mindset, overcoming mental health issues and the power of human kindness and opportunities through sport. We wish them good luck on the rest of their journey!
