Tough day at the office for the 8th Edition of the Matt Gunter Memorial Trophy 1st XV Rugby game.

This is the 8th edition of the Matt Gunter Memorial Trophy and we lucky to have stunning weather for the game, last year there was horizontal rain!

Our boys had a tough day out on the field, and you could see we hadn't been on the field for a couple weeks from the holidays. Full credit to the Nelson team who came out strong with their third game on the books in over 36hours. Although the GHS put up a good fight we just couldn't cross the try line like Nelson was able to. The game was played in great spirits in memory of Matt and it is a very special game that we so happy to host every year.

Thank you to referee Rob Maitland for officiating the game, always great to have your support of these fixtures. Also to our coaching team of Coach Bermingham and McTaggart, even though we didn't finish 2020 off with the bang hoped it was excellent to see these boys dressing in #1s for game days and representing the school with pride.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to the wonderful Gunter Family for allowing this amazing game and now a larger exchange to happen all in Matt's honor. We always love hosting this event and felt very privileged to be able to host FIVE fixtures for Matt in 2020.
