On Tuesday 24th November, members of the Branch and Regional PPTA Committees met with Principal Samantha Mortimer, Presiding Member Shannon Gordon and other members from the School Board of Trustees to sign the PPTA Promise to New Teachers on behalf of Greymouth High School.

The Promise reflects a commitment on the part of Greymouth High School to ensuring that the well being of new teachers is prioritised and that they are supported appropriately through their Provisional Certification to become Fully Certified Teachers.

Kate Halls, the PPTA Branch Chair, started her teaching career as a Provisionally Certified Teacher at Greymouth High School, and has been working with Samantha to put this promise into practice during this school year. Current PCT Harriet Wise commented during the signing that the support indicated in this promise had already been in place for her prior to the signing throughout this year, and the board have expressed their support for this commitment.
