Fantastic team effort to bounce back from last weeks loss.

It was a damp day at John Sturgeon Park with plenty of rain falling over the last few days made it tough work for the field's pumps to remove water, however the ground was still fantastic for the teams to get on and play some exciting rugby.

After last weeks loss to John Paul II the boys were keen to get back in the winners circle and with the return of some players and new ones available the dynamic of the team was different again.

Also it was great to have wider squad players of Tristan Rowbottom and Liam Gurden who were injured helping out running water and messages out to the team for Coaches Mr McGirr and Mr Haigh.

This is the last game for the U15s Team for a wee while but we plan to have more fixtures ahead as we lead into the SISS Tournament Week in Term 3 where we hope to send the team to attend the Rural Livestock Tournament in Oamaru. Also in October we host Nelson College Boarders for the annual Matt Gunter Memorial Exchange. - Plenty more school rugby for the boys!

Thank you to referee Rob Maitland for officiating and AR Will England for being on hand. We really appreciate having these great people within our community to assist at games.

FIRST HALF

GHS has a good amount of time with the ball from the get go and Harvey Tacon got in for the opening try under the posts. The team used the ball well spreading it out and looking for opportunities, Tacon still had work to do on his own breaking through the first tackle with a strong fend, then rumbled over the line. Captain Franklin Barry again with kicking duties slotted the easy conversion.

GHS had a great attacking opportunity within Buller's 22 but a missed line out throw landed the ball to Buller, however slippery conditions made it difficult and a mishandle from Buller was quickly snapped up by Harry Shaw who slide over the line for our second try. Barry added the extras from the tee.

Kaleb Wisdom was on the scoreboard next, finding a great gap in the line, slipping through tackles and in for a great try after continued sustained pressure from the GHS side. Barry making it 3/3 with the tee!

The final try of the first half was from Will van der Geest who is a regular in the 1st XV side but is one of the lucky few Y11s young enough to also play in the U15 side. Using his size and strength being difficult to put down and some fancy footwork spinning out of tackles in got in for the fourth try of the half. Barry kicking yet another conversion and never looked like missing.

HALF TIME: Greymouth HS 28 - 0 Buller HS

SECOND HALF

Buller HS started the second half with fire in their belly getting in for two quick tries before GHS could really get into the game again. Definitely making our boys need to take a minute and not rest on their first half dominance.

Callum Brown at #9 always nipping around and spotting small breaks gaining important meters got in for his own try. Barry once again solid from the tee ticking over the important extras.

Buller got in for their third try of the game still showing they had some great fight against our team and should not be underestimated.

The GHS boys have been very selfless throughout the game ensuring it is passed through the hands giving opportunities to many in the team who were in the right spot, this time Wisdom was on the end of pass to get in for his second try of the game. Brown took over kicking duty and made it count.

The final try of the game went to Wisdom locking in his hat trick, the team were playing under advantage again close to the line after some more sustained pressure. Wisdom converted his own try racking up his points for the game to 17.
