End All Single Use Plastic Products

Sophie Stewart —

By Sophie Stewart, Year 9

Did you know that every single piece of plastic ever made is still here with us to this day? That proves that plastic is ruining our world. It is really sad to see our beautiful world starting to deteriorate with plastic and rubbish everywhere.

Plastic is killing our animals, sea animals and birds. Over 40% of sea birds have ingested plastic, which is a lot. This word treats us so well and it's so beautiful and now it's getting ruined because of plastic. We need to start recycling and reusing plastic.

If we reuse the plastic and be careful where it goes we could save our beautiful world. Not using plastic bags, buying non bagged fruit and veggies at the supermarket. Start filling your own bottles up with your own water instead of buying a bunch of plastic ones. 14% of all rubbish is plastic water bottles. Plastic was meant to save our planet but it didn't. It's ruining our planet. Plastic can hurt and make people sick by eating fish that has plastic in them. Animals are getting sick and dying because of plastic. Soon a lot of animals are gonna be endangered if we can’t stop using plastic.

There are 5.25 trillion macro and micro pieces of plastic in the ocean, that is a lot of plastic. It is estimated that in 2050 there will be no fish left in the ocean. Also the world will most likely run out of oil at some point. Because oil is the main thing that plastic is made of and there is that much plastic being made that were gonna run out of oil eventually.

We live in a fragile world that deserves a voice. We need to start changing the world. There are lots of things we can’t control but this is something with education and change we can control.
