Celebrating Student Success!

Clark Fountain Bachelor of Product Design (Industrial Product Design major) is a standout student in the Faculty of Engineering at UC.

Clark started his studies at UC in 2022 and credits receiving the Development West Coast Tertiary Scholarship as a big reason he was able to attend university. Here are some of his words regarding the scholarship, “it’s for first-time tertiary students from the Coast proving a path to attain a tertiary qualification… The DWC scholarship is intended to provide the West Coast with an opportunity for its individuals to go and study abroad, but also retain graduates once they have finished. As a part of this DWC finds the applicants work related to their degrees over the summer and after they Graduate, reaching out to companies like Quality Machining”.

Clark has been working with Quality Machining for about three years and has been able to apply the skills and knowledge he has learnt at university to some amazing projects, the most recent one being an aircraft firefighting simulator for Wellington Airport.

It’s amazing to see a student make the most out of what their degree and UC have to offer, Clark also joined UC Motorsport in 2022 and led the team to its first FSAE-A win in the club’s 10-year history. The practical courses that UC offers have been greatly beneficial to Clark when it comes to "real-world applications like the FSAE-A car".

With this being Clark’s final year of study, we wish him the best with his studies and cannot wait to see what his future holds! To get more details about the DWC Scholarship, the aircraft simulator project with QUALITY MACHINING LTD., and the FSAE-A competition follow the links below:
