Welcome to Term 4, week 1
We hope that you and your whānau had a good break.
Teaching Staff
We welcome Rodgers Chihwai as Head of the Maths department. Rodgers was most recently Deputy Principal at a school in South Africa. All of us, but especially the maths department, are very happy to have him and his family join us!
Support Staff
We also welcome Jacinda McBride who is going to be a Teacher Aide in our maths department.
Classes for 2024
Jayne Wheeler (Deputy Principal) has been working hard with John de Goldi and Michael Hunter to create our timetable for next year. We are nearly there with senior classes and will be looking at junior classes soon. They have done an excellent job and we are really happy that we can offer so many different opportunities at our school.
Basketball Nationals - Palmerston North
Well done to both the boys and the girls teams who travelled to Palmerston North to play in the 2023 Basketball Nationals. It was a mission getting back to Greymouth and took two extra days! I am so grateful to the coaches and managers who looked after our rangatahi so well, especially on the return trip with the ever changing weather situation, ensuring that the safety of our students was paramount.
Nelson College Boarders Exchange - Friday 13th October
It is that time of year where we welcome Nelson College Boarders to Greymouth to compete in memory of Matt Gunter who was tragically taken before his time. This year we are honoured to host SEVEN fixtures for students to compete and celebrate a young man's life.
Starting on Thursday 12th October at the Westland Rec Centre we have the GHS Raptors and Knicks Basketball sides on the court for a 7pm tip off. Then Friday 13th October we see the Junior and Senior Basketball teams, Football, U15 Rugby and 1st XV Rugby all stepping out to represent our school.
Come along and cheer on our teams in action, we would love to see you there to support both school and the Gunter family
