Accord Day 22nd August - Teacher Only Day.

Our teachers travelled down to Hokitika, over the hill to Christchurch and hosted here at Grey High to get themselves ready for our NCEA changes. Thank you to all of the Heads of Departments who put in a lot of time and energy to make sure that these days are productive.

Tournament week

Our winter sport teams are getting ready for tournament week starting 27th August. Check out our Greymouth High School Sports facebook and instagram pages for more information. I am planning to get over to watch the Football teams in Christchurch, Hockey in Ashburton and Netball in Timaru. It was just about this time last year when I was planning to do this and everything got cancelled at the last minute so I am very grateful our teams are getting to go this year.

I went to numerous tournaments as a student and know first hand what a great time I had with my teammates. I also supported my own children as a parent and I coached some teams as well and I know that there is a lot of work behind the scenes getting them organised. I would like to thank Maddy Crawford for utilising all of her organising skills, all of the coaches involved and whānau for their support.

Board of Trustees

Our old board is meeting for the last time on Wednesday 7th September and it is also the first meeting of our new board. As always our board meetings are open to everyone, and everyone is welcome to join us. We usually meet in the library on the first Wednesday of the month although we have had to meet online for the last few meetings. If you are interested in coming please check with school for the where and when and we would be happy to see you there.

COVID positive cases

Please continue to email the school office@greyhigh.school.nz or phone and leave a message if your children have had a positive covid test so we can monitor the number of cases.

Wearing masks

As a staff we are going to continue to wear masks and we ask all of our students to do so as well (if they do not have an exemption). We are trying to keep our Covid numbers as well as other illnesses such as flu as low as possible. We will review this again later in the term.  

A message from our PTA

We are a super cruisy band of parents, our monthly meetings are usually less than 1 hour in duration, we hold a couple of raffle fundraisers each year, plus we help out at the ball. It is a great chance to meet teachers and get to know the school. If you are interested please email the office on office@greyhigh.school.nz
