Spark Christmas Art Competition

The Team @ Spark —

Tech Prizes Up For Grabs!

Kia ora,

We’re thrilled to invite your tamariki to be part of our first-ever Spark Christmas Art Competition, with awesome tech prizes up for grabs from our friends at Samsung and students in for a chance to see their creativity showcased on a billboard and receive a one-on-one mentorship session with Blue-Monty Hamel.

We’re on the hunt for Aotearoa’s next generation of budding artists (ages 11-18) to unleash their creative gift in Spark’s national Christmas card for 2024.

The competition aims to celebrate young New Zealand artists by offering a platform to showcase their creativity this festive season – whether it’s painting, drawing or doodling.

How to enter

  1. Get creative! Create an original piece of art using traditional mediums, e.g. paint, pencils, ink on an A4 piece of paper or card in portrait orientation using the theme ‘unleash your gift this Christmas’ or if you’re already working on something that brings to life Christmas for your students, you can submit that too!

  2. Scan the piece of art and send to art@spark.co.nz by Monday 11 November along with the student’s name, age, school, city of residence and contact number for either the entrant or their parent or caregiver if 14 years old or younger. Entrants are encouraged to provide a short explanation about how they could use technology to enhance their artistic gift too (and make sure you keep the original art as we’ll need it if they win!)

  3. You also have the option to drop your entry to your local Spark store alongside the above information by 3.00pm Monday 11 November. Don’t forget to reference the Spark Christmas Art Competition when you hand it over to one of the friendly Spark team

  4. All submissions will be in with the chance to win some incredible prizes on offer

  5. A shortlist of finalists will be announced in November, and public voting will commence for the People’s Choice Award

  6. Final winners will be announced in November 2024.

Prizes and awards

All entries will be evaluated based on originality, creativity, and the distinctive flair each participant brings to their work. The categories for entry are:

  • Age 11 – 14

  • Age 15 – 18

By entering the competition, students will be in with the chance to win:

  • Top winning designs printed on Christmas cards in Spark stores during the Christmas trading period and displayed on a billboard in Auckland and a billboard, bus shelter or street poster near their home region and a mentoring session with multidisciplinary artist and creative director, Blue Monty-Hamel.

  • The winner of the two categories as well as the People’s Choice Award winner will receive a Samsung Galaxy S9FE tablet with stylus
