Meat Industry Association of New Zealand (MIA)

Mrs M Newberry —

The Meat Industry Association of New Zealand (MIA) offers a number of undergraduate and post-graduate scholarships every year, with an award of $5000 a year for each year of study for undergraduates, and $10,000 a year for each year of study for post graduates. Applications are now being accepted for these scholarships for 2022.

The awards are aimed at attracting students to the many significant and exciting career opportunities within the red meat industry. Applications are accepted from across a wide range of fields of study that are relevant to meat processing, marketing or exporting. This includes food sciences, nutrition, engineering, process design, industrial innovation, environmental science and international marketing and policy.

The scholarship programme includes mentoring for the scholars and sponsorship to attend the annual Red Meat Sector Conference, where scholars get to interact with leaders in the red meat sector and learn about some of the opportunities available to them via a career in the sector.

Applications for the scholarship close on 8 December 2021.

More information on the scholarships, including the application form, can be found on the MIA website under Join the Industry or by contacting Kaylene.larking@mia.co.nz.
