Christchurch Classic Car Rally

Elaine Bruce —

Around 120 members and their cars descended into Greymouth on Sunday 29th May.

The rally headed off from Christchurch at 7.00am in the morning and featured the likes of: Lamborghini's, various Porsche models, Ferraris, BMWs, Mercedes, Aston Martins, Audis, Hondas, to name a few - there were lots! The owners were very happy to talk to you about their cars, some in fact owning more than one. We turned on really lovely, sunny weather which was just great for the 666km journey. From Greymouth they headed up the coast road to Punakaiki then to Reefton and home. Quite the trip.

Greymouth High School teacher Whaea Erin Connolly's and hospitality students, catered lunches for the group with lots of extra help from some willing staff members. The students made pre-orded packed lunches which consisted of a range of salads, including beef, noodle and feta, cake, scones etc, tea and coffee. It was a fundraiser for the students and they managed to raise around $2,500 for their efforts. Whaea Erin received some really positive feedback which was great to hear. The group were very appreciative.

Pictured below are hospitality students: Quaide Roche, Cody Goord, Destiny Harris and La-Rochelle Grobbelaar busy packing lunches.
