A fun, relaxed course exploring interesting ways to play with words and turn them into poetry! Weaving in aspects of te ao Māori with writing in English, come and be inspired by nature, music and your own rich experiences to enjoy the power of language in motion.

Spaces limited, priority given to Grey District Youth aged 13-18.

About Makaira:Makaira Waugh (Te Ātiawa) is an arts specialist kaiako, artist and poet whose passion is empowering students’ creativity and hauora through the arts. A registered teacher with a rich Taranaki Māori heritage, Makaira teaches and composes waiata, karakia, and rap in te reo, and poems in both languages.
