John De Goldi —

School Visits

Last week Grace Jones Future Student Advisor visited school to present information about Courses of study offered at the University of Canterbury (UC). Grace spoke to three separate groups about programmes including Engineering and Sciences, Arts and Humanities, Law, Education and Digital Technology. All sessions were well attended and students interested in attending UC next year were asked to register their names with Grace to keep updated with important information such as enrolment dates, scholarship applications and other key events.

Students who were not able to make it to the presentations and would like to be kept informed can complete an online form (link here) or pick up a card from Mr De Goldi or in the student office.

We are in the process of organising a trip to Christchurch for Year 12 and 13 students interested in visiting Canterbury University, Lincoln University and Te Pukenga ARA Institute of Canterbury. This trip will happen in the second week of Term 2. Please email Mr De Goldi at degoldij@greyhigh.school.nz if you are interested in this trip and include the names of the institutions you would like to visit.

Scholarships

Two students have made it through to the second stage of the application process for the scholarships managed by First Foundation. Last year Jessica Becford was the first West Coast Student to be awarded one of these scholarships and is this year being mentored by scientist from Christchurch as part of the scholarship.

Upcoming events

Kirsty Rolls from ARA Institute of Canterbury will be in school on Monday presenting about the programmes they offer including Nursing, Broadcasting, Performing Arts, Sports Science, and Engineering to name a few. Kirsty will be presenting in selected classes. An invitation by email will be sent to all Year 12 and 13 students on Thursday outlining where the presentations will be happening.
