Kia ora koutou

Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou

I have really enjoyed watching everyone in MSA grow this year! It is a shame that your families can’t be here but hopefully they will get to watch the March Out on video. I am so impressed with how much you have grown and developed in your skills.

I would like to thank all of the cadets who are part of MSA for all of their hard work. You have shown great resilience this year, especially when things have been cancelled or postponed. Well done for changing plans at the drop of a hat! I have continued to enjoy watching you every day raising and lowering the flag. I especially would like to thank you for working with our students from Supported Learning and enabling them to be part of the special ceremonies you do every year. I also enjoyed and was touched to be part of our GHS Anzac celebrations. Yes it was early in the morning but the ceremony was beautiful!

Remembrance day and the minute’s silence was very special for me, as I remembered both of my grandfathers who fought in WW2. Next year we will all be on the same page with the time and I think that this date will grow and grow at GHS.

My thanks go to Staff and Alex who work so well to ensure that MSA grows and develops. They both work really hard to support but also challenge you and I hope that you thank them both enough! I have also heard very positive feedback from your teachers Ms Quick and Ms Seyb about your class this year and that is very pleasing to hear.

To the cadets who are leaving this year. Good look for next year, remember us fondly and keep in touch! To those who are staying - I challenge you to “Whāea te iti kahurangi - strive for success” and to do even better next year. Take all the opportunities offered to you and continue to grow and learn. Please send my best wishes to your whānau.
