Junior Ski Trip 2020

Reagan Boniface —

Last week, 25 year 9 and 10’s went to Porters Ski Area for a skiing day trip. At quarter to 6, we all met in the car park to load the vans and get ready to go.

We arrived just before half past 8 to get all the rental gear, lift passes and skiers sorted with their instructors and groups. Everyone received a lesson, whether they had never skied before, were at intermediate level or were more advanced skiers.

There were the beginners - who had never skied before - learning the basics of skiing and simply ‘how to ski’ and the more advanced skiers learning all about the terrain parks, how to do 360s on the slopes and skiing in lines and circles with holding onto each others poles to connect everyone together.

The snow was quite light on some of the steep faces, but a good coating on the chairlift, poma, and magic carpet - whereas the snow right up the top was very, very good! They had a great coating especially coming down Sundance Bowl. The snow conditions were pretty good, too as it didn’t start to get that icy ‘til later in the afternoon.

All in all, it was great day up the slopes and with some weirdly hot temperatures for the ski fields - there were actually quite a few people skiing in t-shirts and even some people skiing in t-shirts and shorts!
