Calling all youth singers, songwriters and musicians. COMMOTION is a contemporary music event comprising a weekend of workshops, mentoring, music industry panels, and performances, for youth aged 14-21. COMMOTION's purpose is to expose youth to content and inspiration otherwise not available, provide an opportunity for creative self-expression, and demystify pathways within the music industry. www.commotion.nz

COMMOTION will be held in Nelson over the weekend of 12-13 August, 2023.

COMMOTION 2023 has places for 80 student attendees and we have confirmed an amazing lineup of kiwi artists including:

• Paddy Free (Pitch Black and Ableton Certified Trainer)

Workshop content will include workshops on songwriting, lyric writing, record a demo, learn to DJ, beat making, mixing & mastering, home recording, vocals workshop, instrument workshops, stage presence, and live sound,
COMMOTION student cost is $120 per student (COMMOTION costs over $800 per student to put on so is amazing value). The cost difference is met through funding and sponsorship. We also have a small number of full scholarships available for Māori, Pasifika, and economic hardship.
