Qwest

What is Qwest?

Qwest is a new 2020 Year 9 course that focuses on inter-curricular learning and the promotion of student agency. Qwest follows no particular subject but investigates ideas from the perspective of multiple subjects. For example, should humans colonise Mars? Students can debate this from a scientific, economic, technological or political point of view. Qwest gives students more choice, touches on topics that would not normally be available at junior level and engages students by putting ideas into a real-world context.

What are the Learning Objectives of Qwest?

Success from Qwest is not measured directly against any National Curriculum levels. Outcomes are based on objectives agreed upon by students and teachers. There are units designed by teachers that students can choose from or come up with their own inquiry project. An inquiry based approach is driven by students' curiosity about the world around them. It encourages connection, co-operation, and collaboration by allowing students to pose and solve problems together and with their communities in shared, authentic learning experiences. Feedback on learning will be given to parents and students at the end of term 3 on their progress.
