Matua Joe's journey to Le Quesnoy, France for the opening of Te Arawhata
If you want to see what Matua Joe's amazing journey to Le Quesnoy, France for the opening of the New Zealand Liberation museum is all about, you can check out the website at https://nzliberationmuseum.com/ and they also have an official Facebook page. It is a huge event for our Joe and for Te Runanga o Ngāti Waewae.
"The English and French names refer to the New Zealand led liberation of the town of Le Quesnoy in 1918 and highlight the theme of freedom which underlies the museum.
The Te Reo Māori name – Te Arawhata – means ‘the ladder’ in English. The town was liberated by ladder, with the name also conveying an elevated pathway to higher things and the realm of knowledge."
